SOME WORDS, PHRASES AND CLAUSES ABOUT THIS RECORD: The 1910 Fruitgum Company were ultimately the most successful of the Kasenetz – Katz stable, mainly because they recorded what they were told to record and didn’t quibble. They went on tour when they were asked as well. A paycheck is a paycheck.

The hits are fun, really, nostalgic in a way. Sometimes they’re cringe worthy (like Indian Giver, and then you need to check out the Indian Giver album cover, yikes!) and sometimes they’re so formulaic as to be boring.

If you were like me and heard this on your close-and-play, this is worth a spin. BE WARNED, though, the originals are only streaming on this collection.

NOTES & MINUTIAE: Their final album was a change of direction – big time. They recorded an album called Hard Ride and put a bunch of bikers on the cover. The sound went to more of a fuzz-rock thing. It wasn’t successful. They split up.

IS THERE A DELUXE VERSION: No

GRADE: C: I like this stuff and I’m not ashamed, but I’m not pretending it’s good or anything.
