WHAT’S IT ALL ABOUT: Boz starts his move from somewhat of a blues singer to more of the familiar laid-back blue-eyed soul we know him for.

SOME WORDS, PHRASES AND CLAUSES ABOUT THIS RECORD: It could be said that Boz Scaggs didn’t change his style for the times, the times changed where his style got into vogue. This has all of the elements of a Scaggs’ album – great playing, a smooth production and some great vocals.

The songs are decent as well – some of them have hooks but not enough to carry over to the pop charts. Yet it’s very listenable and accessible. It’s just not well known.

It is a consistent record – there aren’t any highlights per se. It’s just another good Boz Scaggs album.

NOTES & MINUTIAE: He was busy in this era. He released three solo albums in 1971 and 1972 and also did a lot of West Coast gigs with his band.

IS THERE A DELUXE VERSION: No.

GRADE: B+: Not a standout. Not bad. If you like Boz Scaggs’ later stuff, you’ll like this.
