WHAT’S IT ALL ABOUT: Acoustic blues record featuring Guy on guitar, Wells on harmonica and Nance on piano.

SOME WORDS, PHRASES AND CLAUSES ABOUT THIS RECORD: Three friends and musicians get together and record an album one day in 1970. You can tell they love playing with each other, and jamming (which four of the songs are jams or originals done for this time).

Guy and Wells have played together forever, and trade their parts and lines back and forth, while Mance, only on a few cuts, puts his piano to good use as he blends in well with them.

I wish Nance was on more cuts. Guy and Wells are just fine, but they’ve done better and a couple of the jams kind of meander on. These were definitely first or few takes.

NOTES & MINUTIAE: Mance is more known as a jazz pianist, but works well in the blues idiom.

IS THERE A DELUXE VERSION: No

GRADE: B-: A decent acoustic blues record meant for fans of Guy and Wells.
