SOME WORDS, PHRASES AND CLAUSES ABOUT THIS RECORD: It’s just a six-song EP, but it really leaves you wanting more. Fishbone was very smart in releasing just this teaser in 1985. It created not only a buzz for the band but left the public who was ready for a band like this ready to pounce when the full album came out.

Of the six songs, three are great, and the other three OK. Party at Ground Zero was a great college radio cut, but I wonder why ? (Modern Industry) was released as a single instead of Ugly. Maybe it was because they thought radio stations would play that track if their station was mentioned, who knows?

Fishbone definitely started on the right foot here with catchy ska-ish, funk-ish material.

NOTES & MINUTIAE: They were part of the LA scene that produced the Red Hot Chili Peppers and Thelonious Monster.

IS THERE A DELUXE VERSION: Nah

GRADE: B+: 50% great, 50% good.
