OTHER SONGS YOU MAY KNOW: This was a local Colorado band that was really funky in the 70’s, so….no.

WHAT’S IT ALL ABOUT: Colorado’s premier funk and party band of the 70’s and 80’s made a few scattered singles and albums, and they’re collected here.
SOME WORDS, PHRASES AND CLAUSES ABOUT THIS RECORD: I first heard of this band on Rhino’s excellent What It Is! collection. “Funky to the Bone” was the cut they used, and my goodness it lit up the speakers when I played it. I mean, it’s REALLY FUNKY with a great wah-wah, another great guitar line, a great groove and just plain funk.
They were a local party band, one of many around the country, and more often than not they don’t really get a chance unless they’re really lucky. So they were content to play weekly gigs in Denver and gig in other places nearby when they could, and they made a living thanks to their music and energetic show.
Obviously you can’t see the show now but the music has been collected and is available on Google Play for streaming. Depending on your love of the funk, you’ll like it or LOVE it.
Right on, right on, right on, right on, right on!
NOTES & MINUTIAE: Freddi is still gigging around Denver, I believe. Henchi has passed on, but the group did some reunion gigs in the 2000’s and still had it goin’ on. The funk never leaves you.
IS THERE A DELUXE VERSION: No.
GRADE: B+: Get funky, people. That’s an order.
